Control-click the PDF document or image file and choose the Quick Actions option from the shortcut menu, then select Markup from the sub-menu. Your Mac will reveal the markup toolbar at the top of the preview window. As a workaround, we can create a macro to do our printing without markup. The macro could then be assigned to a toolbar button or a shortcut key, so it can be quickly executed. Please perform the following steps: 1. First, select the picture you'd like to annotate, and then click the edit button in the toolbar (it looks like a set of sliders). Once you're in edit mode, you'll see a list of tools along the. The Markup Toolbar offers quick access to commonly performed annotation options within macOS Preview. Before you can add a signature using Preview, you must capture a signature.
Once Preview opens, if you don't see the toolbar with the 'Instant Alpha' magic-wand icon, click on the 'Markup' button to reveal it. Then the toolbar will show up, and you can use that 'Instant.
You can use the editing tools in the Markup toolbar to mark up an image file, providing feedback or pointing out something you want to remember.
If the image is on a page in a PDF file and you want to comment on only the image, you can extract the image as a separate image file. See Extract a PDF page as an image for instructions.
If you only want to comment on part of an image that you've opened in Preview, you can select part of it, choose Edit > Copy to copy just that part, then choose File > New from Clipboard to create a new file. You can also crop the image to remove areas that you don't want.
Note: If you annotate an image file, you can't edit, move, or delete the annotations after you save the image. If you think you'll need to change annotations later, you can convert the image file to a PDF file, then add annotations to the PDF.
In the Preview app on your Mac, if the Markup toolbar isn't showing, click the Show Markup Toolbar button .

Markup in the Preview app is one of the most useful tools on Mac that lets you edit pictures meticulously. Having plenty of editing options in Mac's own toolbox means that you don't need a third-party application to modify your images. Right after taking a screenshot, sometimes you may want to edit it to specify something on the screen, and that is where Markup tools come in handy. These tools are distributed into four shapes, Each of them allowing you to select an area in the image, then crop, copy, or delete it according to your preferences. You can select an area in the following patterns.
With this tool, you can select the background in the image and remove it.
The feature lets you sketch shapes using a single stroke. If you haven't drawn a standard shape, it will be automatically replaced by one.
You can draw on the image with a single stroke. However, this option is only available in computers using Force Touch trackpads. If you own one, you need to press heavily on the trackpad to draw a darker line.

Apart from various shapes, including arrow and rectangular, this tool carries two additional features.
It lets you write on the image, then drag the text field anywhere you want.
If you've previously added a signature, then click and drag it anywhere on the image. Blue dots can help you to resize it. If not added, you can create new using a trackpad, iSight camera, or your iOS device.
Adjust the screenshot's contrast, exposure, saturation, tint, and more. To adjust them automatically, click Auto Levels. To reset to the default, hit Reset all.

Modify the thickness of lines in shapes and personalize them.
Click on a line of a shape to change its color from the available palette.
Select a shape to change the color within its edges.
From various font styles and sizes to text formation, use this tool to adjust the text you've written on your image.
The annotate tool on the preview screen turns blue when your computer is connected with an iOS device that will let you customize your screenshot further.
